Symposium on Child Rights and Child Protection held at Govt. Degree College Doongi, Rajouri

RAJOURI, Nov 4th: The National Development Foundation, in collaboration with the District Child Protection Unit, Rajouri and UNICEF India, organised a Symposium on Child Rights and Child Protection at Govt. Degree College Doongi, Rajouri; it aimed at raising awareness among students and teachers about child rights and protection.

The symposium saw enthusiastic participation of around 120 participants from students, delivering compelling speeches on child rights and protection. Kanhiya, Taniya & Kashish , stood Ist , 2nd and 3rd , respectively, while the consolation prizes, were bagged by Sparsh and Liyaqat Ali. All the participants were given certificates. The principal of the College, Prof. Dr. Jaipal singh was the chief guest on the occasion and CWC Chairperson Preeti Santal was also present as Guest of Honor. While speaking on the occasion. Mohd. Fareed acted as stage secretary while Mohd. Ashraq, Mohd. Ikram and Mohd. Shakeel acted as Judge.

Mr. Sunny Kumar, Programme Manager at the National Development Foundation (NDF), conducted a highly informative sensitization session aimed at both students and teachers. The session focused on the critical importance of child rights and the transformative concept of Child Rights-Focused Schools. He eloquently highlighted the fundamental rights of children, emphasizing their role in ensuring a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment within educational institutions. He discussed the principles and practices that schools can adopt to align with a child rights-focused framework, such as promoting non-discrimination, encouraging student participation in decision-making, and fostering an atmosphere of respect and dignity for all.

The symposium concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Prof. Sameena Khan, expressed gratitude to all participants, judges, and the school teachers for their support in making the event a success.
